It`s Time ...

The idea behind this blog is to sound out fellow Canadians on their feelings about our governments.  More and more it seems that elected officials are in it for themselves, and do things that would have been considered criminal acts in the past.  Additionally, our taxes have always seemed to be under pressure to increase, even though we don`t see much evidence of where the money is going.

The latest thing that has come up again for discussion is what an MP can receive as a pension after serving one and a half terms (6 years), especially if they have been selected for a cabinet position. And, in light of what is happening, or will happen to the average worker, the MP`s pension plan appears to be extremely generous under these tough budget times.

What do you think ?  Why do Canadians just appear to "take it on the chin" ?  Rightly or wrongly, we have seen a huge upswell in student activism in Quebec for fighting increasing educational costs.

Why don't adult Canadians do likewise about this ever increasing tax burden, and the large number of politicians who over-feed at the public trough?

If you have any idea how we can bring about serious change, I would like to know - I am too old myself to run for office, and I don't have the charisma to get there.  However, I am tired of my impotence in trying to stop politicians from putting their hands in my pocket.

Please share your concerned thoughts ... and keep the prose free of mindless head bashing.

There must be something we can really do ?
